Did you know... that turning off the outside water before temperatures drop below 32 degrees, can save your pipes and sprinklers from freezing and bursting.

Make sure to turn off your water to your outdoor water sources, like sprinklers and water spigots.

You will need: a meter key to shut off your sprinkler line. This can be purchased at your local home improvement store.

  1. Locate your outdoor stop and waste valve.
Remove the cap to the shut off valve.
  2. Take the T bar and place it on the shut off valve and turn until in the off position.
  3. The stop and waste valve will drain, and you will know this by the sound of running water coming from the valve.

Did you know... the purpose of the vent fan in your bathroom is not only to turn on when occupying the toilet but more so when there is any humidity?

The most important time to use your bathroom vent fan is when the bath or shower is being run. The second most important thing to note about your vent fan is, if the vent is not run to the exterior of the home all that moisture will be pumped into internal areas of the home. Without proper ventilation, your home has a very good chance of growing mold. Make sure to clean and check your bathroom vent fan regularly to ensure it is properly functioning.

Did you know...One often overlooked aspect of home maintenance pertains to the vents associated with refrigerators.

Within your fridge lies a compressor, cooling coils, vents, and fans. Amidst these components, the intake vent and fan regularly draw in air, along with accumulating hair, dust, and dirt. It’s crucial to regularly clean and maintain these intake vents to ensure the optimal functioning and longevity of your refrigerator. By vacuuming and dusting the front and rear vents, you can effectively extend the lifespan of your appliance while maintaining its efficiency.

Did you know... that there is a metal rod inside the center of your water heater?

This metal rod is called a “anode rod” and is there to take on the brunt of damage from your water. The anode rod’s sole purpose is to attract the harsh minerals within your water heater and corrode over time. The anode rod is meant to last roughly 5-7 years and costs about $20 to replace. By keeping an eye on this rod and proactively replacing it, your water heater will last longer, saving you a large amount of money.
